FIGHT CERVICAL CANCER IN STYLE

Wednesday night (27th January 2010) was a pretty big night for us as a charity and as a community. We watched in awe as celebrities from the world of music, television and fashion joined forces at the exclusive event 'Fight Cervical Cancer in Style' at KoKo in London. This national campaign is about educating girls and women about cervical cancer so they can better understand their risk and how to reduce it.

This special event, hosted by presenters Lauren Laverne and Miquita Oliver, showcased some ‘must-have’ designer collections from the fashion world alongside music performances by some of the best young female acts in the UK including headliners, the Sugababes, as well as Pixie Lott, La Roux and Paloma Faith. Sarah Brown also spoke at the event, to help raise awareness and show her support for the campaign and you'll be able to see what they all got up to as it was filmed for T4 and 4Music (to be shown on Feb 6th).

It felt like an historic moment as we watched hundreds of young girls and women enjoy an event to help raise their awareness of the cause that is at the very heart of Jo's Trust. Talking about the devastating impact of cervical cancer, our Director, Rob, conveyed to the audience the key message that girls and young women can take action to help prevent it happening to them.

We anticipate that this, coupled with our other campaigns that we have been running alongside it, will prompt a dramatic increase in awareness and raise the numbers of young girls going for vaccination and women attending screening.
